Starve.io is an addictive and super tough massively multiplayer browser based survival game in which you harvest resources, collect food and craft weapons as you attempt to survive in a very hostile environment.
Survival is a real challenge in Starve.io, you’ll do well to last more than a few minutes initially as you constantly attempt to fend off hunger, cold, wild animals and other players. You spawn in the most habitable (but still pretty inhospitable) area on the left side of the game map and must scavenge resources, craft weapons, equipment and defences as you attempt to eek out an existence in its harsh game world.
It’s usually easy enough to avoid conflict with animals and other players, but managing your hunger and heat levels is very tough – especially at the start of the game. You need to collect food and collect wood to build fires before you freeze or starve to death. This is particularly urgent if you’re unfortunate enough to spawn in the middle of a night cycle as your heat levels really do plummet when the sun’s not out.
Make it past the first few days and you’ll be able to start building a little home for yourself, crafting more items and building weapons and defences (you can find a full list of craftable items here). Survival is still no walk int he park though, so it’s often best to attempt to form allegiances with other players.
Starve.io offers a surprisingly hardcore and challenging take not he survival genre that may put newcomers off, but there’s a certain pleasure to be had from defeating the elements and surviving against all the odds. Good luck surviving those first few bitter cold nights though!
