A Hell of A Soup is a wonderfully weird little retro FPS where you claw and shoot your way through a surreal monster-filled landscape and gather ingredients for your mother’s soup.
In A Hell of A Soup your mother has accidentally spilled all the soup that she was cooking and now requires you to go out and collect more ingredients for a new batch. The problem is that these ingredients are located in three different shops in different villages. There’s also the small matter of the surrounding landscape being filled with strange and deadly monsters – including demonic geese, a huge burrowing sand monster and dark knights on invisible bikes.
Taking around 20 minutes to play through, A Hell of A Soup is clearly a tongue-in-cheek FPS experience, but it’s also a surprisingly good one. The movement is fast and fluid, the monster designs are fun, the gun feels great and there are lots of nice little touches to discover as you explore the environment and talk to NPCs. A soup-er surreal little FPS well worth tucking into.
