Alien Swarm: Reactive Drop is a fantastic sci-fi top down shooter with squad-based tactics and intense bug blasting combat that makes you feel like a marine in the Aliens movie (but without the need to be rescued by Sigourney Weaver).
Alien Swarm: Reactive Drop is the sequel to (the also excellent) Alien Swarm which adds more maps, aliens game modes guns and Steam Workshop Support to the intense bug blasting fun of the original. It’s playable in single player or with up to eight players in multiplayer across a variety of game modes such as deathmatch, instagib and gun game, as well as solo and co-op campaign modes.
In the campaign mode each member of your team has unique abilities that make them invaluable, such as the medic who can heal team members or the Technician who can hack doors. In single player you can issue commands to your squadmates, but in multiplayer other players take control of them. The levels are action packed and also feature a nice amount of tactical options, such as blowing up explosive barrels to alter the environment or wielding doors shut to keep the aliens at bay.
It’s a already a very impressive game, but the Steam Workshop support promises to make it even better, you can already replace the soundtrack with the original Alien movie score or add pulse rifle sounds – and it’s surely only a matter of time until someone adds Aliens Xenomorph skins to the aliens. An awesome tactical team based bug hunt that we highly recommend checking out.
