All Our Asias is a surreal retro adventure that sees you exploring your dying father’s memories to try and get to know him better.
In All Our Asias you take on the role of Yuito, a Japanese-American hedge fund analyst who receives a letter from his estranged father, who he has never met. It turns out that his father is dying and by the time Yuito gets to the hospital he is already unconscious. Yuito is determined to discover more about his father though and utilizes a new technology called “Memory World Visualisation” to enter his father’s mind.
There are many weird and wonderful sights and strange characters to chat to as you explore your father’s dying mind. You only have a limited time in there before your father inevitably dies and you have to escape before then or you’ll end up trapped in there. It’s an interesting experience that not only sees you learn more about your father, but about you as well.
Taking around 2-3 hours to play though, it’s a powerful little game that manages to squeeze a surprising amount of emotion and awe-inspiring sights from it’s retro PSX-era trimmings. It’s a surreal and heartfelt experience as you take this one last chance to get to know your father, uncovering more about your heritage and who you are. Highly recommended.
