Ascent of Grob’s Domain is a wonderfully weird third person puzzle platforming adventure where you chat to quirky characters and use gravity shifting abilities to climb a huge tower.
In Ascent of Grob’s Domain you are a mysterious traveller who enters the Domain of Grob, a strange place with lots of oddball characters and a huge tower for you to climb. The characters you meet are all reasonably friendly and you can chat to them as you make your ascent, and if you reach the top you may just meet Grob himself.
Each section of Grob’s Tower is essentially a self contained puzzle which you use your gravity shifting abilities to navigate. Your abilities allow you to flip gravity and walk up walls or even upside-down. You can only walk on certain types of surface though and if you jump then you’ll revert back to normal gravity.
The way the camera instantly snaps to the new perspective when you shift between vertical and horizontal surfaces is initially a little jarring, but once you get used to it then Ascent of Grob’s Domain is a delightful little puzzle platforming adventure. The puzzles are well designed, the cel shaded art style is fantastic and the characters you meet are all wonderfully weird. A tricky tower well worth climbing.
