Awareness Denied is a creepy, unsettling and eye-melting first person puzzle adventure where you are a damaged program that’s looking to achieve a higher form of existence in a glitchy cyberspace.
Awareness Denied is a sequel to the excellent meloveyou (which we’d also recommend checking out), though both games can be enjoyed perfectly well as standalone experiences. In Awareness Denied you are a program (called 90.91) that has just been recycled following their exploits in meloveyou. However, it seems that your programming wasn’t recycled and someone or something has equipped you with mind-expanding modules which will allow you to delve deeper into the cyberspace and reunite with the mysterious ‘Her’. However, you’ll have to solve some pretty fiendish puzzles along the way, search for secrets and deal with a freaky glitchy stalker.
You can play through Awareness Denied in under 10 minutes and get an ending of sorts, but to really get the most out of it you’ll have to look deeper, search for secrets and solve the main mystery. There are some very inventive puzzles throughout, often requiring you to pay close attention to clues in the environment and to think outside of the box. It’s a fascinating experience that really does feel like you’re poking around in a glitchy cyberworld – especially thanks to the fantastic audio and visual design which can be mesmerizing at times. Highly recommended.
