Babel is a stylish, chilled out and addictive little game where you attempt to build a Tower of Babel with ladders, baguettes, refrigerators and assorted other everyday objects.
Created for the GMTK game jam, in Babel you control an odd looking little character with long and stretchy arms who is given just one command – Ascend. To do this you just grab the various everyday objects that are floating around in the environment and then release them to attach them to your tower. Once attached they are immovable so you don’t need to worry about the tower toppling, but you do need to worry about falling off!
Much like the Tower of Babel, there’s no ending to Babel, you can just build as long as you like and read the comments of encouragement (and discouragement) that are relayed to you as you ascend. Sure your tower may be pointless, but it’s an oddly satisfying experience building it and you do feed a bit of a sense of achievement as you climb ever higher.
Controls: WASD – Movement, Mouse – Look, LMB – Grab/Release, Spacebar – Jump
