Below the Ocean is a charming little platforming adventure where a diver has to manage their air supply tether while in search of treasure at the bottom of the ocean.
Created for the Ludum Dare 48 game jam, in Below the Ocean you step into the shoes of a brave explorer who is setting out to explore the depths of the ocean. Your father used to tell you stories of the treasures hidden within the deep and now you are setting out to find them.
As you make your way through the underwater world you tether yourself to oxygen stations. Your tether is only so long, so sometimes you may need to find the best route to avoid it impeding your progress. A lot of the time it’s actually quite handy though, as when the tether becomes tight you can use it to swing up to out of reach areas.
It’s a fun little game with a great pixel art visual style, novel tether-based gameplay mechanics and an excellent soundtrack. The level design is also very well done with a nice mixture of challenging platforming elements and creative puzzles.
