Blink is a tense little retro styled first person horror game where you attempt to collect objects and solve a puzzle while trapped in a graveyard with a deadly Weeping Angel-esque statue.
In Blink you have decided to visit your grandmother’s grave late at night and pay your respects. However, while attempting to pay respects to your grandma, you also end up being very disrespectful to another inhabitant of the graveyard by stealing flowers from another grave to place at your grandma’s one. This immediately seems to anger the large sculpted stone statue/gravestone that was holding the flowers and now it’s in search of vengeance.
Your stoney stalker in Blink behaves much like the sleeping angels in Doctor Who, with it only moving when you don’t look at it and snapping your neck to instantly kill you if you allow it to sneak up behind you. This is a big enough worry in itself, but in Blink you also need to search the graveyard for useful items, read notes and solve a deviously designed puzzle.
Taking around 20 minutes to play through, it’s a tricky game that will punish you for complacency and requires you to have eyes on the back of your head as you keep an eye on the statue and where you are going. It’s a very tense experience and the way the statue creeps up on you is very creepy. Maybe next time you’ll bring your own flowers!
