Blob Opera is a delightful little musical toy which allows you to play with four little squashy blobs and create beautiful operatic melodies.
Created by David Li (who also made the excellent Choir) Blob Opera uses machine learning based on recordings of actual opera singers to create a manipulatable model of what opera singing sounds. Each of the four blobs represents a different voice type (Soprano, Alto, Tenor, Bass) and the higher you stretch them the higher the pitch of their singing. You can also stretch them forwards and backwards to change the vowel sound they make and there’s even an option to sing Christmas carols if you’re feeling festive.
It’s a clever use of machine learning and a great little musical toy to play around with. The little blobby opera singers are adorable and pretty much everything you make them sing sounds surprisingly good!
