Bloodborne PSX is an incredibly faithful fan made PS1 styled Bloodborne demake that recreates the first few hours of FromSoftware’s gothic horror action RPG.
Bloodborne PSX really has taken fan games to a whole new level. The PS1 styled visuals look incredible and it features the entire Central Yharnam map, including the Cleric Beast Fight and the Father Gascoigne fight. Aside from a few minor alterations and additions, It’s pretty much a 1:1 demake, with environments perfectly recreated, and enemies, collectibles and even NPCs in exactly the same place as they are in the original game.
It doesn’t just look the part, Bloodborne PSX plays perfectly too. The control scheme may take a little getting used to (as it’s a PS1 demake it doesn’t use the analog sticks), but once you get to grips with it then it works very well and the combat feels great (and the game is slightly easier to compensate). All the RPG elements are there too, with you able to visit Hunter’s Dream to level up your character, buy items and upgrade your weapons. There’s also a wide selection of weapons, clothing and consumables to collect.
It really is an incredible game, with all of the gameplay, mechanics, enemies and environments recreated in painstaking detail. There are even some extra secrets to discover if you poke around a little. There has been a big demand for a Bloodborne PS5 remaster, but this will tide fans over until then. It’s truly remarkable how good the streets of Yharnam look in all of their PS1 styled glory. Highly recommended.
