Bowels of the Ocean is an eerie little PS1 styled first person horror game where you hunt for food to give to a massive Eldritch beast that lurks under the water.
Created for the Haunted PS1 Summer of Shivers by Blak McKinnon (creator of The Whitetail Incident), Bowels of the Ocean subsea horror game where you feed a maddening eldritch monster. You take on the role of a diver who is called to by the monster. It reaches out into your dreams and it hungers. You must feed it.
In the game you are tasked with hunting fish to feed the monster. Your spear gun is pretty accurate, but you need to be pretty stealthy to get close enough to them. Once you collect enough fish you then return to the monster with the spoils and it will send you out to hunt larger, harder to catch prey.
Taking around 10 minutes to play through, it’s a fairly simple, but fun little horror game with a nice sense of atmosphere and a particularly freaky monster. It’s amazing the lengths you’ll go to to feed the beast!
