Boxing Rampage features a very addictive fusion of boxing and side-scrolling shoot ‘em up action as you weave and punch your way through humans, robots, cyborgs, aliens and powerful bosses to become the World Champion.
In Boxing Rampage you view your boxer from a top-down view, moving them with the WASD keys and punching with the left and right mouse buttons. You don’t have to worry about blocking, success revolves around positioning your boxer so that their fist is lined up with an opponent’s face and pressing the corresponding punch button. It’s a simple and intuitive control system that makes it easy to pick up and play, and then once you knock out your first opponent everything changes…
Instead of being a 1v1 ring-based boxing game, Boxing Rampage actually scrolls left-to-right and sees multiple boxers taking you on at a time. Reach the end of a level and you’ll then take part in a boss fight against a powerful opponent with special abilities. Between levels you can also purchase upgrades, new attacks and unlockable skins for your boxer and yoru gloves.
A boxing shoot ‘em up is a pretty odd concept but it works surprisingly well, thanks largely to Boxing Rampage’s easily accessible control system. There’s lots of content too, with a variety of different championships to enter and lots of upgrades, bonuses and skins to unlock. An excellent little box ‘em up well worth lacing up your gloves for.
