Caen is a short pixel art dungeon exploring adventure where you avoid deadly traps and solve puzzles as you attempt to steal a mystical crystal from a dungeon guarded by a mysterious old man.
In Caen you take control of a down on his luck thief who is attempting to steal a powerful crystal and sell it for some cash. You’re not a very good man, as highlighted by the fact that you poison an old man right at the start of the game, but it’s your wits that will be tested in this dungeon rather than your morals.
The crystal you seek is the most precious one ever known, so it’s no surprise that getting to it won’t be a walk in the park. Each room you enter is a self contained puzzle that often requires precision timing as you avoid deadly hazards and use spatial logic to maneuver blocks into the right places.
Taking around thirty minutes to play through, Caen is a great little puzzle adventure that flies by at a nice pace and continually impressed with its creative puzzle design. That crystal is probably best left where it is, but it’s a whole lot of fun trying to pilfer it! Highly recommended.
