Celephaïs is a dark little H.P. Lovecraft inspired narrative-driven side-scrolling adventure that tells the story of a man who sleepwalks his way towards a utopian dream-city.
Based on the short H.P. Lovecraft story of the same name, Celephaïs is a narrative-driven experience that tells the story of a man called Kuranes. As a child Kuranes created a city called Celephaïs in his dreams. Now in his forties he now dreams of returning to that city and becoming the ruler of the city. You now control him as he sleepwalks towards his goal.
The gameplay in Celephaïs is very slow and simple, with you essentially just walking right as the story unfolds, but it’s a great telling of the classic Lovecraft story. The pixel artwork is excellent and its sedate pacing allows you to really immerse yourself in Kuranes fateful journey. A poignant sleepwalking adventure well worth staying awake for.
