CHATTERBOX: Escape The Asylum is a very impressive FMV-based choose your own adventure that sees you listening to the voices in your head as you attempt to escape the mental asylum you’re trapped in.
A little like Virtual Morality, CHATTERBOX: Escape The Asylum plays like an interactive movie that allows you to make decisions that dramatically affect the course of the narrative. You play a schizophrenic who has voices in his head telling him what to do. The end goal is to escpe the asylum, but you’ll need to figure out the correct actions to carry out in different situations (which may not be immediately apparent). It takes some incredibly weird turns along the way, and bizarrely there’s even a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it cameo from a well known adult movie star in there too!
It’s a great game that takes some wonderfully strange twists along the way. The acting isn’t bad either, pretty much on par with the acting in most straight to DVD horror movies, but way better than most FMV based games. A highly recommended slice of interactive video horror.
