Cookies is a fantastic first person horror adventure that spins 10 very different tales inspired by classic VHS era movies, all within a squalid apartment block that you call your home.
If you’re looking for drugs, violence and depravity then you’ve come to the right place with Cookies – a first person horror adventure where you unravel 10 different stories as you explore your apartment building. The apartment building really is a hovel and is filled with the dregs of humanity, from racist white trash to gang bangers, cultists and Yakuza. You’re not exactly an upstanding citizen yourself, and are a low tier drug dealer who is happy to partake in your wares.
You have free reign to explore the apartment block and as you do you stumble across different narrative threads that you can pursue to their conclusion. For instance, you may go out searching for food for the king of the rats, you might end up joining a cult or locked up in a maze with a psychotic clown. Each story has an ending and often finishing one story will unlock new objects in the apartment block or whole new stories for you to pursue.
It’s an incredible game that packs lots of fun twists and surprises in its dingy apartment block. The attention to detail in the environment is incredible (it’s best to turn off the VHS filers so you can appreciate it all) and the way you stumble across each new story thread is very clever. It’s a very dark and grimy experience that truly immerses you in its squalid setting – so much so that you feel like you need a good shower after playing for too long!
