Critical is an addictive little dice-based mech combat game where a doomed mech pilot attempts to stave off an invasion for long enough for their people to escape.
Created for the GMTK Game Jam 2022, in Critical a robotic army is invading your city and you are powerless to stop them, but with a little luck you may be able to delay them. The combat in Critical is dice-based and sees you placing Attack, Defense, Health and Cash icons on different sides of a die, then rolling it to decide what your actions are.
Between rounds you can buy more icons and you can unlock a total of three dice to roll per turn. You only need to win three battles to complete the game, but the final battle is pretty tricky – you’ll need some powerful die and a little luck on your side to win.
It’s a great little game with simple, but effective pixel art visuals, an excellent soundtrack and addictive dice-based combat. A dice-based mech combat game well worth rolling with!
