Crooked Silence is a creepy retro styled first person survival game set in a weird old mansion filled with monsters and freaky living dolls.
Drawing inspiration from 90s classics like Resident Evil and Silent Hill, Crooked Silence is a first person survival horror adventure where you fight your way through a monster filled house after a strange entity causes you to crash nearby. The house features a Resident Evil-esque mixture of monsters to kill, weapons to scavenge and puzzles to solve as you try to make your escape.
As with any good survival horror game, health and ammo are in short supply so you need to be careful as you make your way through the mansion. There’s a nice selection of monsters to deal with and even a Nemesis-esque unkillable monster that turns up now and again to freak you out. There are also plenty of secrets and easter eggs to find and there are three different endings to discover.
There are a few bugs and the save system is a little broken at the moment, in that a lot of the monsters that you’ve killed will respawn, but none of the collectible ammo/health does (which can make things very unfair later on). However, aside from their bugs it’s a very impressive slice of old school survival horror. The retro aesthetics work really well, the monsters are very freaky, the puzzles are pretty inventive and the shotgun is particularly satisfying to use. Highly recommended.
