Death Coming is a funny non-linear pixel art puzzle game where you become Death’s assistant and attempt to harvest souls by setting up a wide variety of (increasingly silly) Final Destination-esque death-traps.
You are dead. This is of course a bit of a bummer, but it has opened up an exciting new employment possibility as Death’s assistant. You now must travel to a variety of different locations and interact with objects to “encourage” souls to leave their earthy bodies. Much like in the Final Destination films you can’t directly kill someone, but you can activate certain machines or make objects move a little (so for instance you can make a loose air-con unit drop on someone’s head).
In each level of Death Coming you have three specific targets to kill and you also have a total amount of souls to harvest. There are lots of inventive ways you can do this by using Final Destination style traps and as you make your way through the levels things can start to get delightfully silly, with you awakening ancient monsters, unleashing a King Kong-esque giant ape of crushing an ice hockey team with a giant snowball.
It’s a great little game with high quality pixel art and a hilarious premise. It’s a lot of fun figuring out the many ways to dispatch the poor unsuspecting NPCs of and each level is packed full of inventive ways to push them off their mortal coil. You may be a king or a little street sweeper, but sooner or later you dance with the reaper!
