DEATHMATCH 404 is a creepy and unsettling little NO PLAYERS ONLINE inspired horror game that takes place on the haunted servers of an old deathmatch FPS.
Created by Piotr Rycabel, creator of Insomnia Awaken, DEATHMATCH 404 is certainly quite derivative of NO PLAYERS ONLINE, but there are some important differences that shake things up a little. It takes place inside the severs of a long forgotten online multiplayer FPS and sees you entering into a deathmatch populated by bots, a mysterious entity and ghosts from your past. Lots of these you can walk up to and blast point-blank in the face with your gun, while some of them actually put up a fight.
It’s hard not to think of NO PLAYERS ONLINE the whole time you’re playing DEATHMATCH 404 as there are a lot of similarities, but it’s an enjoyable little horror game nonetheless. It’s got a great visual style, it is genuinely pretty creepy and the ragdoll physics are a lot of fun. Well worth checking out for a bit of old school deathmatch horror.
