Dia is a freaky 10 minute horror game where you’re followed by an inanimate corpse as you make your way through a city with a population of one (you).
Oddly enough Dia starts by blatantly lying to you, with a declaration that (among other things) “There is nothing scary ahead”. However, this soon becomes the least of your worries as you appear to be being followed by an inanimate corpse that flops to the ground and (usually) just lies there until you pass. Obviously it can’t be alive as the various population counters on the walls all state “Population: 1”, but now and again it’ll flicker and state “Population: 2”. Is it really dead? What is it? And who is that voice on the radio?
It’s an impressive little horror game with a very oppressive atmosphere and some great little touches. An inanimate corpse may not sound like the most scary antagonist, but each time it pops up your dread grows a little and each time it’s not in sight tension mounts as you wait for it to appear. Highly recommended.
