It looks like Nintendo’s Lawyers have struck again and slapped a DMCA notice on the excellent No Mario’s Sky. But thankfully the devs have responded by creating DMCA’s Sky – so now you squash Moomba’s as you search for Princess Mango across an infinite
Mario Spaceman Finn universe!
DMCA’s Sky is still pretty much the same game as No Mario’s Sky but with a few useful gameplay tweaks and a bit of tongue-in-cheek rebranding. In DMCA’s Sky you explore a vast procedurally generated galaxy, stomping on the heads of randomized ‘Moombas’, collecting gems and searching for Princess Mango (though you’ll still probably never find her).
For legal reasons they’ve also had to alter the soundtrack, but it still offers plenty of catchy randomized tunes to listen to as you explore DMCA’s Sky’s infinite planets. As well as the DMCA related changes,
Mario’s Spaceman Finn’s controls seem to have been tightened up a little, there also seems to be a bit more variety to the Goombas Moombas (we found giant and tiny ones), and a there’s handy reset function so you can explore the first level again (which is humorously called DMCA-DMCA).
All in all DMCA’s Sky is actually a better game than No Mario’s Sky thanks to the hard work of the devs and the way they’ve poked fun out of Nintendo’s DMCA notice. The only thing we’d love to see added is a planet full of Nintendo lawyers to stomp on (though it is an infinite universe, maybe it’s out there somewhere!)
