Drop Alive is a beautifully animated, wonderfully inventive and surprisingly challenging puzzle platformer in which you control a drop of water that can change between solid, liquid and gas states.
Drop Alive starts with charming hand animated cutscene that introduces you to your little drop of water and lulls you into a false sense of security as you think it’ll just be a simple cutesy platformer. You soon discover that it’s actually a pretty tricky puzzle platformer, as you try and navigate your watery friend through deadly hazards such as electrodes, flames and dry food.
Being made of water has it’s uses, such as being able to transform into steam to fly or transform into ice to smash things, but it also has its downsides. Hazards such as fire, electricity and spilled milk can kill you instantly, while travelling acros dry surfaces such as cookies or bread will slowly make you lose water mass until you disappear. There are various places you can top up your fluids, but due to some deviously designed level layouts it can be pretty tricky to reach them!
Drop Alive impresses from start to finish with its inventive gameplay, tricky level design and beautiful animation. A cheerful, charming and challenging watery puzzle platformer that’s well worth checking out.
