Echo is an atmospheric puzzle platforming adventure that sees a young girl venturing into her subconscious as she relives the memories of a traumatic event.
In Echo you find yourself in a dreamlike version of your home, where everything seems larger than normal (or you feel smaller than normal) and you get glimpse of a shadowy underwater world that’s inhabited by a shadowy version of you. You actions are limited to walking, jumping, activating switches and grabbing/moving large objects, but you can also use the shadowy figure to help move objects and activate switches too – which can take a little getting used to as their controls are reversed.
The puzzles in Echo are fairly basic and it can be completed in under 10 minutes, but the art design is excellent and the way it relays the narrative via the background scenery is very effective. A beautifully designed little adventure well worth checking out.
