Explore Kyoto’s Red Gates is a beautiful Unreal Engine 4 powered experience that allows you to explore a near perfect recreation of Kyoto’s Fushimi Inari-taisha Shrine.
The Fushimi Inari-taisha Shrine is a large mountainside shrine built to honor Inari, the Shinto God of Rice. It’s an expansive place full of beautiful views, shrines and branching pathways, with most of the walkways housed within lines of iconic red gates. Developer Caves RD has managed to build a near perfect recreation of the shrine in Unreal Engine 4, allowing you to walk around, take pictures and discover its beauty in first person.
There are no real objectives in Explore Kyoto’s Red Gates, but you will have to explore a little off the beaten track to find all the fast travel spots and unlock a final gate at the top of the mountain. The visuals are superb and it’s a very relaxing and meditative experience wandering around and taking in the beautiful scenery. If you fancy donating $4 to the developer then you’ll even be able to explore it in VR!
