Expurgation is a tense and atmospheric industrial horror game where you fix components inside a giant haunted machine.
Created for the Acerola Jam 0, in Expurgation you are a mechanic who is tasked with maintaining a massive machine from the inside. You travel from floor to floor and use parts, codes and a handy portable tool to fix the various malfunctioning components. However, it’s not long until it becomes apparent you’re not quite alone in the dimly lit halls of the machine.
The pace is a little on the slow side (especially early on), and it would be nice to be able to see a little further into the darkness, but it’s a great little industrial horror game that feels friendly reminiscent of Mike Klubnika’s works (Carbon Steel, The Other Side, Buckshot Roulette). It’s got a very tense atmosphere and there’s something very satisfying about fixing the various components.
