EXsynchronos is an eye-melting first person adventure where you dive deep into a neon cyberspace to stop a corrupted computer network from being used to erase humanity from the planet.
EXsynchronos is the third part of the meloveyou trilogy, the other two being meloveyou and Awareness Denied. You don’t need to have played the other two to understand the story, but it does make the gameplay a little more accessible.
The game takes place in a vast cyberspace that connects to humans, devices and machines worldwide. The cyberspace has been corrupted by psychopaths that have uploaded their consciousness to supercomputers and are now using it to transform the Earth into a gigantic machine. You take on the role of a program that’s been designed to fight back as part of a resistance program. You now need to seek out our creators and save the world.
It really isn’t a user-friendly game. The sheer complexity of the game world and the lack of direction makes for a very disorientating and overwhelming experience that may turn many away. However, if you can get to grips with it then there’s a lot to like about the EXsynchronos. It’s visually stunning, with vibrant neon wireframe visuals that make TRON look monotone in comparison. The game world is fascinating too, packed full of strange cyberspace architecture and lots of interesting surprises to discover.
It really won’t be for everyone, but EXsynchronos’ corrupted cyberspace adventure delivers a very unique experience that is unlike anything else. It looks absolutely incredible and it’s a lot of fun figuring out the intricacies of the world and how to interact with it. Highly recommended.
