Extra Ordinary is a fun little retro styled mini-game based comedy horror adventure from the creator of the FAITH games, based on the supernatural horror-comedy movie of the same name.
For those unaware, the Extra Ordinary movie is a well received comedy horror that was released last year. In the movie an Irish driving instructor uses her supernatural abilities to save a possessed girl from a washed up rock star who is trying to rekindle his fame with an occult ritual. It’s a delightfully silly take on the classic exorcism horror movie genre and the Extra Ordinary game captures its essence in a short MS-DOS styled comedy horror adventure.
In the Extra Ordinary game you take on the role of Rose Dooley (the driving instructor/exorcist) as she travels to different locations and completes short minigames to protect the girl and collect “ectoplasm”. It only takes a few minutes to play through, but it’s a fun game with a nice variety of gameplay, a great sense of humor and the sort of excellent MS-DOS styled pixel art animation you’d expect from Airdorf, creator of the FAITH series. Very odd video game/movie tie in, but a very welcome one!
