Fail to Win: Chapter 1 is a tricky physics based puzzle platformer where you blow yourself up and use your ragdoll corpse to solve puzzles.
In Fail to Win your goal is to make get to the end of each level by any means necessary. This can often require you standing too close to exploding crates, causing you to die and sending your ragdolling body flying through the air. Death is not the end in Fail to Win, in fact it’s a vital part of the process…
When you get blasted through the air you still have a little control of what direction your ragdolling corpse goes in. Also, if your corpse lands on a checkpoint square then you’ll be able to respawn there rather than the previous one. You can respawn at a checkpoint instantly by pressing the spacebar, but the environment won’t reset unless you stand on the special reset panels. Also, when you respawn you still have whatever momentum you had before, so you can use it to propel you through the air after you respawn.
If this all sounds complicated, than that’s because it is, but once you get to grips with the fundamentals of the corpe flinging and respawning then it’s a very impressive puzzler that has some very inventive puzzle design. It almost feels like Portal at times, but with a whole lot more suicide and floppy bodies flying through the air!
