feeding the forgotten

Feeding The Forgotten is a beautiful, heartfelt game in which you play a good samaritan who takes a little time out of their day each week to help people in need, spreading a little joy and giving those who really need it a little bit of hope.

Feeding The Forgotten is set in a low poly rendition of Brisbane, Australia. Much like any city, it’s a busy place full of traffic and people going around their daily business, but if you look closely (and follow the blue markers) you’ll notice a few people who are standing still – the forgotten. These people are down on their luck, struggling to get by in life and are often just ignored by the people who walk past. In the game you offer them a helping hand, which can come in the form of food, other consumables or even just a bottle of water, accompanied by some friendly conversation. It’s these conversational moments when the game really shines, as you get to know more about the people and their circumstances. They’re fully rounded human beings, with backstories, hopes and aspirations, not just two dimensional caricatures of homeless people.

As you wander the city, helping those in need, It’s remarkable to think that such a small amount of someones time and a few dollars worth of items can have such a dramatic effect on other peoples lives. Feeding The Forgotten is not a game that uses pity to get its point across, instead it uses optimism – an optimism that there are people out there who take a little time out of their day to help others in need, and after playing it though you may want to be one of those people too. It’s a powerful game that want’s to help change the world one person at a time, and if that person is you then it’s done its job. Very highly recommended.
