FILE is a creepy little horror game that plays out on a faux computer desktop after you open a cursed game file that’s infected your computer.
Drawing inspiration from Welcome to the Game and Pony Island, FILE is a short and freaky little narrative driven horror game that follows a young woman called Raven after an entity known as “FILE” infects her computer. The game plays out with you interacting with objects and playing a simple platformer on your Windows-styled desktop. After each platforming section you’ll learn a little more of the narrative and have to search for the next part of the platforming game – which can be hiding in the desktop somewhere or even in objects in the background as FILE starts to infect your real life.
Taking around 30 minutes to play through, FILE is a well crafted little horror game that makes great use of the desktop and the surroundings as the entity invades your life. The animation and artwork in the platforming game is a little crude, but it works pretty well and the way its game world changes as it becomes more infected is very effective. Highy recommended.
