Flare: Empyrean Campaign is a very impressive Diablo-esque old school hack n’ slash dungeon crawling RPG adventure set n a dark fantasy world full of monsters, loot and side-quests!
Flare: Empyrean Campaign is a well crafted retro dungeon crawling adventure created to showcase what the devs impressive open source Flare engine is capable of. It starts with you being exiled from your homeland and you must journey through the world on an epic quest to try and regain entry. Along the way you’ll battle monsters, chat to NPC’s, complete side quests, level up your character, fight powerful bosses and collect lots of lovely loot.
Although visually and gameplay-wise Flare: Empyrean Campaign is charmingly retro, the UI is nice and modern, making for an easily accessible but satisfyingly old school dungeon crawling experience. It plays like how you remember what Diablo played like, rather than how it actually played. The retro styled isometric visuals are nice and crisp, there’s a nice variety of ways you can upgrade your character and it features some great dungeon design. It’s a very impressive showcase for the Flare engine and a great game in its own right. Highly recommended.
