Franchise Wars is a clever little Into The Breach-esque turn based tactical puzzle strategy game where you attempt to use each of your unit’s unique abilities to solve each level and win a war that’s waging between two fast food franchises.
In Franchise Wars you take command the forces of Frog Pop – one side of a war that’s being waged against their rivals, Munch Point, for global domination of the fast food market. The combat is turn based, with the majority of the units being one-hit-kills, and in each charming looking isometric level you have to use your unit’s unique abilities to dispatch all of of the enemy forces.
It looks and plays like a turn based strategy game, but really Franchise Wars is more of a puzzler, where in each level you need to work out how to use your unit’s strengths to exploit your enemy’s weaknesses. There are 26 levels in total and they can get pretty tricky as more units and terrain types are introduced. It’s a great little game with charming pixel art animation and well designed bite-sized levels that require real thought to solve. Highly recommended.
