Free Afternoon is an quirky little game in which you use a variety of antiquated technology as you try and get a game installed via the floppy disks that you’ve copied from a friend.
We have things very easy nowadays when it comes to technology and gaming. Nowadays you can download and install a game in seconds, but Free Afternoon transports players back to an era when it wasn’t quite as simple as that.
Your goal is to install a game you’ve copied from a friend onto your computer, but you’re having issues with the floppy disks. The only thing for it is to use your retro rotary dial telephone to call a helpline for advice and see what they come up with, and so on.
Free Afternoon only takes a few minutes to complete, but it’s a fun concept that would be perfect for expanding on – perhaps by adding anti-piracy code wheels and having to mess about with DOS prompts. It’s all very much a waste of time, but it’s a nice little slice of nostalgia well worth checking out for a fun reminder of the foibles of 90’s technology.
