Fungi is a highly addictive .io style real time strategy game where you attempt to grow a massive network of fungus cells by leaching nutrients from food and other players.
In Fungi your aim is to form the largest mass of fungus cells by spreading across the arena and leaching nutrients from any food sources (including other players). It’s controlled entirely via the mouse and is very inquisitive, allowing you to easily grow new cells and build a system that allows cells to feed into other cells.
It gets really interesting when you come across another player. You have the ability to spend some of your mass to upgrade your reach, which comes in handy in a “combat” situation as it allows you to reach across and leach from an opponent’s fungi cell. You have to be careful that they don’t leach you first though as you can’t attack while being leached from. There’a a variety of different abilities and power-ups that can also be used that can add an extra layer of strategy to the proceedings.
The gameplay of Fungi is a lot slower than most .io games, but it actually makes for a much more strategic experience and things can get pretty intense when you start a battle with a nearby player. A very addictive browser based fungal RTS that will grow on you.
