Ghosts’n DJs is a delightfully silly Ghosts ‘n Goblins parody which follows Spanish house music legend Dr Kucho! as he wages a one man war against fake celebrity DJs.
In Ghosts’n DJs you take control of Dr Kucho!, a Spanish house music DJ/producer who has had enough of talentless celebrities like “Devil Goata, Paul Douchebag, Paris Sheraton, Steve Karaoki and Pete Bullshit” who are polluting the music scene with their ghost produced garbage. So naturally he does this by battling his way through a series of 16 bit styled action platforming levels inspired by the classic Ghosts ‘n Goblins!
Much like Ghosts’n Goblins, Ghosts’n DJs is a very tough game that will take some reall skill to beat. The character movement and level design is very similar to Capcom’s classic, but the levels have a bit more verticality, all your weapons are music formats (CD’s, Vinyl, USB sticks, etc) and all of the enemies are parodies of fake celebrity DJs. Also, There’s a badass power-up that will turn you into a rainbow-cat hurling deadmau5!
Ghosts’n DJs initially started development over 6 years ago, so the whole celebrity DJ theme does feel a little dated now (it was much more prevalent back in 2014), but it’s still a fun concept. The pixel art animation is excellent, there are some fantastic gags and the core gameplay is surprisingly excellent (particularly if you’re fond of the Ghosts ‘n Goblins series. #Highly recommended.
