Hatching is a short virtual pet styled horror game where you look after a mysterious egg that contains a very strange creature.
Based on the Finnish horror movie of the same name, Hatching is a short and creepy horror game from the creator of FAITH. You take on the role of a young girl whose mother is obsessed with presenting the image of a perfect family. One day you find a strange egg and take it home, where you nurture it and help it grow.
Hatching plays out like a Tamagotchi-esque virtual pet, but with you just having two options of what to do each day. One option will make the egg happy and one will help make the mother happy, with different endings depending on your actions.
It’s a short game, but needless to say, things get pretty weird pretty quickly. The LCD styled pixel art looks excellent and manages to elicit a surprising amount of dread from its simple monochrome visuals. It’s amazing how creepy a virtual pet can be!
