Hellpoint: The Thespian Feast is a Sci-Fi Eldritch horror third person action RPG that plays a little like a blend of Dark Souls and Dead Space, as you explore a space station that was at the center of a cataclysmic event several decades ago.
Released as a free standalone sequel-like chapter to the upcoming Hellpoint game, Hellpoint: The Thespian Feast takes place 50 years after the events of Hellpoint and sees you sent in to investigate the monster-filled remains of the Irid Novo space station. The black hole-orbiting space station was the pinnacle of human achievement, but judging by the state of it now, things must go very wrong in the main Hellpoint game as it’s now covered with strange organic masses and it’s crawling with freaky alien monsters.
In Hellpoint: The Thespian Feast what you are and what you’re doing in the Irid Novo space station is unclear, but it appears that you’re some sort of disposable clone (called a Spawn) that’s been sent in to investigate it. It takes around an hour to play through (or much longer if you plan to discover all of its secrets) and it plays like a blend of Dark Souls and Dead Space, though not quite as punishingly tough and with a larger focus on platforming.
Because of the similar gameplay people will no doubt deride Hellpoint: The Thespian Feast for not being as good as Dark Souls, but what is? It’s a very solid action RPG adventure with some excellent art design, engaging combat, an intriguing lore and some novel touches – such as the randomized enemy placement and the way the space station changes depending on the time. It’s an excellent Soulsian occult Sci-Fi adventure that you can complete within an hour. Highly recommended.
