I’m Struggling is a beautiful, eerie and powerful little PS1 styled narrative-driven experience that delves into issues of mental health, disillusionment and resilience as you explore the shadowy corners of a forgotten town.
Based on the original poem “I’m Struggling” by Avalon, I’m Struggling follows the story of a man who uses alcohol and cigarettes to subdue the pain and chaos of life in the modern world. It’s very much an experience rather than a game, with you exploring a series of beautifully crafted environments within a run-down town, while hearing Avalon’s remarkable poem.
There are notes to read as you explore and lots of great environmental details, but the star of the show has to be the poem narrated by Avalon himself. There’s so much raw emotion and honesty in it that it hits you like a wall and makes you sit down and pay attention. It’s a story that many will relate to and will stick with you long after. Highly recommended.
