Infested is a fantastic NES styled point and click adventure that blends humor with pulp Sci-Fi horror as you try to escape from a spaceship that’s infested with a deadly alien organism.
Drawing inspiration from NES classics like Shadowgate, Déjà Vu, and Uninvited, Infested is a beautifully crafted retro point and click adventure set aboard a spaceship that’s been overrun by a hostile alien lifeform. After awakening from cryosleep you find that you are the last person alive aboard the ship and you must now find a way to eradicate the organism and escape in one piece. A little like the organism in John Carpenter’s The Thing, the slimy plant-based organism can manifest in different forms, all of which are deadly if you get too close.
Taking around an hour to play through, Infested really impresses with it’s fantastic pixel artwork, charmingly retro UI, inventive puzzle design and humor. There are MANY different ways to die as you explore the ship, which are all fun to see and thankfully don’t make you lose all your progress. It’s an easily accessible and well crafted take on the retro Shadowgate style adventure. Highly recommended.
