It’s Not Me, It’s My Basement is a poignant little narrative-driven horror game where a young kid tries to hold things together with no parents around and monsters to feed in their basement.
Created by ArcadeKitten (creator of the excellent Tricks N Treats) It’s Not Me, It’s My Basement is an RPG Maker based horror game about a young kid called Embry, who is home alone with monsters locked in their basement. It’s been a long time since the monster appeared and their parents went away, but they’re managing to hold things together. Embry manages to keep the house reasonably tidy, goes shopping for groceries and each day feeds the monsters in the basement.
Taking around 45 minutes to play through, It’s Not Me, It’s My Basement weaves a touching and tragic tale throughout its short playtime. You really feel for Embry and the mystery of what’s behind that basement door is very intriguing. What are the monsters? Are they the Embry’s parents? Are they even real? They’re certainly making Embry’s life miserable anyway as they feeds their fears rather than facing them. Highly recommended.

Hey! Just watched this game & it was great. However—just wanted to point out that the dev has stated specifically that Embry goes by they/them pronouns.
Ah yeah, thanks for the heads up. I thought I’d changed all the pronouns but it looks like I missed a few. Fixed now. 🙂
I think you missed the last few sentences!
Ah dammit! I suck at pronouns! Thanks for the heads up, fixed it now. 🙂
