Just Push The Button is a clever little metagame puzzle adventure that sees you activating functions within the game so that you can push the button.
Just Push The Button takes around 10 minutes to play through and is best experienced first hand, so we highly recommend playing the game before reading on. It starts with a single yellow screen and a button to press right in the middle of it. However, it soon becomes apparent that you can’t actually press the button yet – because you haven’t unlocked that function!
A little more experimentation takes you on a mini RPG adventure that sees you activating different functions within the game code. Some of these functions are useful, such as allowing you to respawn at different points on the screens, while others add minor cosmetic changes. As well as aiding your progress through the game world, learning these functions also earns you XP, which allows you to level up and learn functions quicker.
It’s a fun little game with inventive puzzle design and lots of interesting game functions to fiddle with. A great little meta-puzzle adventure that turns the simple act of pushing a button into an game programming miniquest.
