Lee Carvallo’s Putting Challenge 2 is a remarkably touching Game Boy parody sequel to the fake game from The Simpsons, where Lee faces his toughest challenge yet.
The original Lee Carvallo’s Putting Challenge was seen in a classic episode of The Simpsons, where Marge got it for Bart as a Christmas present instead of the Bonestorm game he wanted. Needless to say the original game looked hilariously terrible, but this fan made sequel is fantastic.
Lee Carvallo’s Putting Challenge 2 isn’t really a golfing game, it’s more of a point and click adventure with a little bit of golf in it. The game starts with you searching for Lee’s things as he gets ready for a tournament. There are puzzles to solve and plenty of fun little Simpsons in-jokes, but then there’s a bit of a time jump and things take a very different tone.
It’s a beautifully crafted little game that not only manages to turn a throwaway Simpsons gag into a great point and click adventure, but also delivers a remarkably impactful story. Game Boy games based on Simpsons gags shouldn’t be this emotional! Highly recommended.
