Lumen is a short and spooky third person puzzle platforming adventure in which you play a young girl who wakes up in a nightmarish realm with a camera that can be used to manipulate objects in the game world.
Taking around 15 minutes to complete, Lumen offers a fun blend of puzzles, stealth and platforming as you attempt to help a little girl escape the nightmare she’s trapped in. You wake up in the world dressed in your pyjamas, with a camera and a rather ominous voice offering you assistance. It turns out the camera has some pretty nifty tricks up its sleeve that you can use to help you escape – such as using the flash to manifest platforms or moving pictures you take to move objects in the game world.
It’s not perfect – the final puzzle which requires you to play the piano is a little infuriating and the ending feels a little bit of an anti-climax, but it’s a fun little adventure, with a high level of polish, great visuals design and inventive puzzles. A nightmarish puzzle platforming adventure well worth getting trapped in.
