Luminous Flux is an incredibly intense first person experience that blends pulsing audio, strobe effects, optical illusions and puzzles as you explore a massive virtual art installation, solve puzzles and attempt to unlock the exit.
The constant strobing game world of Luminous Flux isn’t a particularly pleasant place to be in but it is a fascinating place to explore. It contains over fifty unique virtual art installations spread across five unique themes. You can just wander around and take in the experience if you like, but there are also puzzles to solve that allow you to access hidden artworks and find the exit.
It’s a very disorientating experience, not just because of the flashing lights, but also because there are doors that can warp you to different areas of the installation. Once you get to grips with it then it’s a remarkable place to explore though, packed full of bizarre interactive works of art that could only ever exist in digital form and lots of secrets to discover as you figure out the puzzles.
The constant flashing lights and pulsing audio can feel very unpleasant initially, but as you get attuned to it you can really start to appreciate the artwork and world design of Luminous Flux. It’s a truly unique experience that overwhelms your senses and entrances you with its bizarre and beautiful strobing game world. Highly recommended (but don’t play if you suffer from epilepsy).
Note: Don’t press the “Destroy Everything” button unless you want to end the game.
