Machine Dream is a stylish and inventive 2.5D puzzle platforming adventure where you control a little spider-bot that uses magnetism to help it climb out of the darkness of a mysterious robot factory.
Created for the Brackeys Game Jam 2021.1, in Machine Dream you control a little spider-bot with a magnet for a head, as it makes its way through a massive industrial facility. You can scurry around and jump around as in a traditional platformer, but your magnetized head is where things really get interesting.
Your magnet head can be used in a variety of different ways as you make your way through the factory. You can attract yourself towards large metal objects, allowing you to climb losing ceilings and up walls. You can also attract small metal objects towards you or repel yourself away from objects that have the same polarity as you.
Taking around 20 minutes to play through, it’s a great little platformer with some very creative puzzle design, challenging platforming and a fascinating industrial setting. The retro PS1-esque visuals add a lot of style and you find yourself dying to know more about your little magnetized bot and the strange facility it’s trying to escape.
