Moon Runner is a creepy and atmospheric Death Stranding inspired Sci-Fi Survival action game where you attempt to activate monoliths on a corrupted moon.
In Moon Runner you are an employee of a company that has set up a network of monoliths on a moon to harvest energy used in interstellar travel. Something at the center of the moon appears to be corrupting the monoliths so you’ve been sent in to investigate and reactivate them. However, the moon is a very hostile place and there are lots of malfunctioning droids and mysterious ghostly skulls keen to turn you from an astronaut to an ex-tronaut!
You’ll die a lot initially in Moon Runner as there’s quite a lot to learn and everything is trying to kill you (even gravity), but once you get to grips with it you should be able to hold your own. You can earn credits by selling modules you find lying around or delivering packages from one monolith to another.
The cash can then be used to purchase upgrades and useful modules such as guns, ladders and energy (which is essentially your health). You need to be wary not to carry too much at a time though as it can make you slow and can make even the smallest of drops deadly.
It’s a very impressive game that really nails the atmosphere (or lack of it) and delivers a clever twist on Death Stranding’s delivery-based gameplay. There’s quite a lot to discover on Moon Runner’s barren looking moon and the finale is very intense. Highly recommended.
