NEAR DEADline is a fun and beautifully animated little Pong-like game where you control two paddles simultaneously and use them to bat away Z’s and stay awake long enough to complete a project before its deadline.
In NEAR DEADline your character has been playing on his Nintendo DS for so long that he’s forgotten about an upcoming deadline for his animation work. You now have to try to stay awake for five days straight to complete the project on time.
As your character beavers away on his project Z’s come flying in from either side of the screen. If you get hit by too many Z’s then you’ll fall asleep so you need to bat them away using the Pong paddles on either side of him. Batting away Z’s also charges up your special ability, which temporarily extends your bats and slows down the Z’s.
It’s a simple, but fun little game that delivers a novel twist on the age old game of Pong, with addictive gameplay, fantastic pixel art animation and an excellent. It has three different endings to find and the menu screen also contains a fully functional drawing program with a few secrets tucked away (try typing “Password” in the Password box!)
