Neo City Express is a hilarious arcade driving game where a drug-addled driver makes deliveries with his imaginary dead grandma.
Created for Ludum Dare 53, Neo City Express follows the story of Daggers McBlack – an extremely reckless driver who’s inherited his grandmother’s delivery company. He’s determined to make the company a success in just six days, but to do so he’ll push himself to his limits.
Daggers McBlack isn’t the most careful of drivers. He likes to text, use Tinder and use performance enhancing drugs. This means that while you’re driving and avoiding traffic, you also need to type out sentences in texts, swipe left or right on Tinder profiles and deal with some unwelcome side effects of the drugs. Thankfully though, you’ve got the imaginary ghost of your dead grandma with you to help you through it all!
It’s a fantastic little game with lots of clever humor, a nice mixture of problems to multitask and excellent pixel artwork. There are two endings to find (each of which is superb) and it’s very entertaining how they both play out. Highly recommended.
